Summer Learning Program: July 1st, 2013 - August 9th, 2013
West End Day offers a six-week long Summer Learning Program for early elementary school aged children who would benefit from additional instruction in a classroom setting. The program gives youngsters the opportunity to become acquainted with their new school in a particularly low-key environment, and it allows West End Day students or children from other schools to maintain learning that is hard to retain over long summer breaks.
Our Summer Learning Program helps children improve learning and social skills through a combination of academic curriculum and social activities. Since it takes place during summertime, we strive to create a "camp-like" experience for students. Reading and Math are taught up to four times per week through small group instruction, and our therapists join teachers in helping to develop social and games skills through a variety of fun activities including field trips, group games, cooking club, arts and crafts and trips to the playground. Children also participate in instructional swim classes twice a week through the Take Me to the Water swim program and an outdoor exploring adventure once a week with Mohr's Explorers.
The 2013 Summer Learning Program begins Monday, July 1st and ends Friday, August 9th. For inquires and further information, please contact our admissions office at 212-873-5708, ext. 303 or admissions@westenddayschool.org.
