The effects of learning difficulties in a child reach far beyond the four walls of the school. Learning difficulties have a profound impact on the entire family. Rick Lavoie, a truly gifted educator and leader in the field of understanding children with learning issues, will present a workshop to explore the complex issues that family members face when a child is struggling in school and will provide parents with practical strategies when faced with these complex family challenges.
Richard Lavoie, M.A., M.Ed. holds three degrees in Special Education and has served as an adjunct professor or visiting lecturer at numerous universities including Harvard, Manhattanville College, and Georgetown. He has been an administrator of residential programs for children with special needs since 1972 and is a member of the Professional Advisor Board of the Learn-ing Disabilities Association.
Mr. Lavoie is the creator of the award-winning films,"How Difficult Can This Be?: The F.A.T. City Workshop" and "Last One Picked, First One Picked On: The Social Implications of Learning Disabilities". His books and films have brought his sensitive and compelling message to countless thousands throughout the world.
